The idea to assist others began with my own children. I taught my kids to shoot, hunt, and how to safely transport and handle firearms. It seemed wise and important to pass on what I have spent a lifetime learning.
About The Gun Doctor
Expert Instruction
Firearms proficiency begins with Safety. Before ever stepping onto a range, I will ensure you know the Principles of Firearms Safety. Once you master these skills, you will be ready to learn more advanced shooting principles, with a focus on effective employment and accuracy.
Realistic Scenarios
The first time you present a firearm in a real-life situation, you will be glad that you focused on realistic and rudimentary tasks.
Muscle memory will allow you to overcome the adrenaline and fear. Your time in training must prepare you to handle the impact of these physical and psychological challenges.
my training for the past 28 years in law enforcement and the United States Army infantry are the foundation of my methods and program.
The Gun Doctor Firearms Academy
Handgun Basics Course
My Handgun Basics Course teaches you everything you need to know about handguns. You'll learn about the different types of handguns, how to safely operate them, and how to clean and maintain them.
Rifle Marksmanship Course
My Rifle Marksmanship Course is near and dear to my heart. A handgun is a great tool. The rifle allows far more range and when you learn to employ the Fundamentals of Basic Marksmanship, you will become accurate and precise with a rifle.
Concealed Carry Class
My Concealed Carry Class is my most favorite to teach. Only you should know you are armed. This class will teach you everything you need to know to legally carry a concealed firearm. We will cover holsters, state laws, firearm safety, and self-defense tactics. I prefer leather. If you have never used a leather holster, let's talk!
Women's Self-Defense Course
The Women's Self-Defense Course is designed to teach young ladies (like my daughter) and other women to defend themselves in a variety of situations. The course is no different from what men must learn and know. It simply takes into account the need for women to be hyper-vigilant, to avoid dangerous situations, and how to fight back if necessary.
I am not a Gunsmith.
Gunsmiths are highly skilled master machinists, and very few people can truly claim to be a qualified Gunsmith. My Armorers training allows me to perform many repairs and assist you with firearm function problems. I have experience with the Modular Stoner Platform, and I am more than glad to teach you how to service and care for your own rilfe. I can restore finishes and clean older firearms to put them back into service. Many issues revolve around cleaning and maintenance, a broken hand, or a sheared extractor.
Range Time
Most training will be on the range. If you don't own your own firearm or are new to shooting, it is wise to test out several options before purchasing. After our Safety and assessment sessions, I will be glad to recommend a rental firearm to use on the range. I own many modern weapons and can provide you with a wide selection of handguns, rifles, precision rifles, and shotguns to test out. I do not sell guns. I can recommend a FFL Dealer who will sell you a high-quality firearm. I can also assist you in determining what will suit your needs best. This includes ammunition selection.
